False Alarm Information

More municipalities are establishing a False Alarm Ordinance.  Although each are different, they have a common objective of Reducing False Alarm Dispatches of authorities. You can obtain added information on these ordinances by clicking on the following links, depending on your location:
Albuquerque: www.cabq.gov/police/alarm/ordinance.html
(more false alarm information at www.cabq.gov/police/alarm/)

You can minimize False Alarms by assuring:

  • Everyone in your household understands how to use the alarm system and has the proper code to arm & disarm the system.
  • Any visitors staying with you understand the operation of the alarm system.  Many systems have the capability of using different codes for temporary situations.
  • Test your alarm system monthly after first contacting your monitoring station to assure they do not dispatch the authorities.
  • Alerting your installing alarm dealer to repair any defects in your alarm system that you detected during testing.
  • Notifying your monitering service, should you accidently initiate the alarm, to avoid their notifying authorities.
