Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I install an Intrusion Alarm System?

  • A burglary is committed every 10 seconds in America. This adds up to over 3 million homes each year – In ten years that’s one in every 8!
  • In Albuquerque, there are an average of 17 homes and businesses that are burglarized each day and very little stolen property is recovered.
  • There is an average loss of $1,300 worth of property per burglary
  • According to the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association, burglars attack homes without security system 3 times more often than homes with a system.
  • Today about 1 in 6 home owners has invested in an electronic security system – more and more Americans are saying that they feel safer with a home security system.
  • Burglars are more likely to break in to your home between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., while you are at work, as opposed to breaking in at night.
  • Check with your homeowners insurance company.  Typically they offer a discount between 2%
  • and 20% on your insurance when you install a security system.

Should I look for the lowest cost alarm system alternative

  • Although bargains are sought by all of us, alarm dealers, like other businesses, have to make a profit to stay in business; thus a very low price is usually accommodated by other offsetting conditions, such as the system is leased rather than purchased (thus the home owner does not own the system but continuously leases the system), or long term contracts are required at elevated monitoring prices to offset the lower purchase price.
  • Lower system prices can be achieved by not including some of the features of a full-feature system.
  • System prices are often discounted in exchange for long term monitoring contracts.

Why should I have my system monitored 24 hours per day, 365 days per year?

  • If a system is monitored, proper authorities are immediately alerted upon alarm actuation.
  • Authority alert of alarm actuation for non-monitored systems depends on the good will of neighbors, which may not be a reliable method.
  • The time of response to alert police or fire personnel is critical to minimize the effects of a burglary or fire.

Will I be charged for false alarms?

What do I do to minimize any False Alarm charges?

  • Everyone in your household understands how to use the alarm system and has the proper code to arm & disarm the system.
  • Any visitors staying with you understand the operation of the alarm system.  Many systems have the capability of using different codes for temporary situations.
  • Test your alarm system monthly after first contacting your monitoring station to assure they do not dispatch the authorities.
  • Alert your installing alarm dealer to repair any defects in your alarm system that you detected during testing
  • Notify your monitoring service, should you accidently initiate the alarm, to avoid their notifying the authorities.

What will CCTV or Access Control Systems do for my business?

  • If areas of the business need to be restricted as to the presence of only certain individuals, access control systems can be installed.  These not only restrict entry, but also electronically record the individual record involved with time and location for future reference. A Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system can also be installed in parallel to visually identify individuals involved. The latter images can be recorded for later viewing.
  • CCTV systems can be installed for security and many other purposes.  The latter includes: measuring productivity, assuring event occurrence, and viewing physical inventory as well as general operations
